Easter Service
We visit our church each term to celebrate the major festivals.
Hull City
We have links with many sporting clubs eg Hull City, Hornsea Cricket Club, Hornsea Rugby Club and South Holderness Swimming Club.
We have visits from coaches both in and out of school hours.
America Week
Each year we focus on a different culture for a week. We have studied India, Mexico, Africa, China and America
School Trips
Each term we visit a place of interest
Each September Y6 take part in a residential visit to an outdoor pursuit centre.
Children in Need
The School Council arrange many evernts to raise funds for both school activities and charities. They have helped to purchase equipment for the school and raise money for the Children in Need appeal.
Creative Contexts
Creative context for learning is an Arts led cross-curriculum initiative which schools can apply to take part in. We have been successful in our bids for a number of years. 2007 saw Y2 and Y3 working with sculptor Mark Powers to create totem poles which explore the idea of building positive relationships. Within the project the children also had experiences of improving living willow plantings and developing a play exploring moral issues with the Wonderful World of Puppets.

Healthy Schools Award
In July 2002, we were given a Healthy Schools Award - the first school in the East Riding to achieve this!
We set lots of targets in the nine areas, e.g. Drugs Education, Well-Being, and Our Environment.
As we achieved them, we put information on our Healthy Schools Board for everyone to see. A steering
committee of teachers, non-teaching staff, parents and governers met regularly to update ideas and
report on progress. Our School Council advised us on several aspects, and gave us feedback on events.
The following are some of the things that have helped us achieve the award:
Recycling bins
Adventure playgrounds
A disabled toilet and ramp
A visit from the Life Education Centre
Healthy Eating
Daily free fruit for all 3-7 year olds
Water bottles and machines
A butterfly garden
School Council
Willow shelters
Charity events
We are so proud of our achievements and to be a healthy, happy school.
Since then we have made a DVD on "Food and Fitness" with Real Life tv company for Teachers TV and this was shown 6 times this year. Many people get good ideas from our good practice.
Our School Hall
We have decorated our school hall as it has not been redecorated for many years. It was completely repainted. The curtains were purchased by our PTFA. We like to have whole school displays, a Collective Worship board and childrens board to look at.
Willow Shelter - a work of Art, a fun place to play and great shade.

Adventure playground - the PTFA helped to pay for this.
